Thoughts:
If charming, PG-rated, Hallmark Christmas movies are your jam, then you should definitely pick up The Holiday Swap by Canadian author duo Maggie Knox (Karma Brown and Marissa Stapley). Wanting to write something uplifting, positive and comforting – and after watching some Hallmark Christmas movies themselves – the friends created this beautifully warm story for us all to enjoy this season.
I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful comedy and all its ridiculous “Parent Trap” machinations. Yes, of course, it requires some suspension of belief but spare me the sanctimonious reviews claiming this to be “unbelievable”. What you’ll get in The Holiday Swap is an entirely entertaining, escapist, fun read with plenty of descriptive food sequences to have you running to the kitchen to bake up (and cook up) something delicious. From a cozy, snowy, small town bakery whipping up batches of sourdough, to an LA set of a Holiday baking competition, there’s a little bit of everything for every foodie out there. Enjoyed over one cozy afternoon or just as a little pick me up thirty minutes at a time during a hectic week – read it, smile, and relax awhile. Simply put, The Holiday Swap is sweetly delightful.
