When I read Suggested Reading in January I knew it was going to be the book I recommended for September, the perfect kick off to fall and all the burgeoning potential of back to school … be it virtual learning or in the classroom!

Clara Evans, bookworm extraordinaire, enters her first day of senior year knowing it will be her best year yet, until she discovers the school administration has decided to ban a large selection of classic, beloved books including The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Catcher & The Rye. Thus begins an incredibly important conversation on censorship, corrupt power, the need to use one’s voice, and addressing our preconceived prejudices. Moving, incredibly relevant, and nuanced this is such a compelling read that demonstrates our shared interconnectivity through books and the power of the individual.
