July’s “Potions and Poisons” box had me greatly anticipating the upcoming spooky season and autumnal weather on the way … in the middle of the blasted, awful summer! Thanks for that OwlCrate 😉 Jk. Here’s a look into this month’s fantastic box:

Every bookworm has the problem of overflowing TBR shelves … or, in my case, bookcases … Enter a TBR jar in which you write the titles of your unread books on pieces of paper and place them in a jar. When you become crippled with indecision (happens to us all) simply pluck a paper from the jar and read that book! Decision made. This super pretty ceramic TBR jar designed by Lichen and Limestone brings all the old apothecary vibes and I’m looking forward to putting it to good use conquering my unread stacks!

While the vibes of this box had me thinking fall, this popsicle mold designed by Tes (@paperbackbones) brought me back to summer. I’ve been wanting to try my hand at a cantaloupe homemade popsicle recipe – a nice treat to beat all these heat waves! – so this was the perfect seasonal addition to the box. This popsicle mold was inspired by Three Dark Crowns (highly recommend!) and can be used to store snacks like nuts and trail mix if popsicles aren’t your thing.

This bubblebath from Fiction Bath Co. is likely my favourite item in the box this month because it just smells so dang delicious! Truly. A super refreshing mix of watermint & clementine, this bubblebath/shower gel is both fresh and earthy and I’m looking forward to a soak in the tub on the first chilly fall night. The scent was inspired by The Midnight Lie.

This stunning tea towel features the gorgeous artwork of Aimee Mac Illustration. Who knew deadly flora could be beautiful? 🙂 Inspired by Labyrinth Lost, this item can be used as a tea towel but would also work as a wall tapestry if you’d prefer.

We all are carrying hand sanitizer with us lately. Included in this month’s box is this Narnia inspired bottle keychain that you can fill with your favourite sanitizer (or lotion for our dried out, over sanitized hands!). Blissfully Bookish Co. reimagined Lucy’s Pevensie’s Healing Cordial for the embossed design.

Okay, I know I said the bubblebath was my favourite item. But I changed my mind, it’s this Alice in Wonderland inspired enamel bookmark featuring the famous potion bottle and cookie Alice consumes to become the “right” size to enter Wonderland. Herboreal Art did a fantastic job designing this bookmark and I love it! I can never have enough Alice in Wonderland merch.

Lastly is the book pick! July’s book is The Poison Heart by Kalynn Bayron and OwlCrate’s exclusive edition came fully decked out: signed, with an author letter, an exclusive cover, foil design on the hardback and fully illustrated reversible dust jacket artwork by LAB Illustration!!

Our monthly pin was designed by Icey Designs to reflect a certain elixir that plays a key part in the story.
