It continues to boggle my mind all the goodies OwlCrate is able to stuff into that little monthly box! Here’s a look at everything included in May’s “Expect the Unexpected” box:

Out of Print is one of my favourite bookish merch companies, so it is always exciting when OwlCrate partners up with them. This month they included an officially licensed Rule of Wolves square scarf, from Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse. I have read everything Bardugo (or as I call her, Queen Bardugo) has written, except Rule of Wolves … but I will, soon … I think … 

This super deluxe, corduroy shoulder bag (with adjustable strap to be worn cross body or as a shoulder bag) features a quote from the ever popular Illuminae Series: May we meet again on distant shores. The calligraphy was designed by Studio Kyra Calligraphy.

This vinyl sticker, designed by Lion in the Trees, features a quote from The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi. I know many The Gilded Wolves fans will be happy to add this sticker to their collection! You can place vinyl stickers on anything – your laptop, phone, water bottles, but I personally like turning favourite stickers into magnets for the fridge! 

This metal tassel bookmark was designed by Pixel & Ink Creative and features two quotes. One from Scythe and one from The Fifth Season … having not read either, I’m not sure which is which! But here they are: “Hope in the shadow of fear is the world’s most powerful motivator” and “Neither myths nor mysteries can hold a candle to the most infinitesimal spark of hope.” 

Next up is the second book tin in 2021’s book tin collection inspired by the A Darker Shade of Magic series, by V.E. Schwab. This second tin is inspired by Grey London and was designed by Forensics and Flowers. 

Lastly, before the book, is our monthly enamel pin designed by Icey Designs. This month’s pin is a personal favourite of mine – I really love the sparkly waves and setting (or rising?) sun. It’s really lovely and, most importantly, has glitter! 

And the book pick of the month is … The Ones We’re Meant to Find by Joan He. This is another anticipated release for me, and I’m expecting it be quite unlike anything else I’ve read. This book came with an exclusive OwlCrate cover, exclusive foil design on the hardback, signed by the author and with an author letter!
