“Trials & Tournaments”
That mug? The dragon? The red foiling on the cards?
Yeah, ok.
OwlCrate’s July Trials & Tournaments box was pretty epic …
I’ve got to start with the Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire inspired mug. It is the third mug in OwlCrate’s Harry Potter themed ceramic mug series and it didn’t disappoint. I had recently watched the movie so that I would be sure to catch all the little details included … and artist Cora Kozik nailed it.
The Gathering of Shadows inspired deck of cards was a collaboration with 5 different artists (Michelle Grey, Diana Dworak, Gina Hilton, Marianne Martin, and Nicole Deal) and features beautiful red foiling and a grey, white, black and red colour scheme — a nod to the 4 parallel London’s in the Shades of Magic series.
This 300 piece puzzle, featuring a lovely The Night Circus themed print, designed by Holly Dunn, is not messing around! It is so tough! My family and I worked on it for a few days … we still didn’t finish it!
Next up is a little canvas coin purse/pouch designed by Kit Cronk Studio and featuring a quote from The Hunger Games. I love getting little pouches like this and use them to help keep my purse organized.
The last goodie is a lanyard with a quote from the Selection series designed by Four Seasons Fox.
The gorgeous monthly pin was designed by Dust and Pages … featuring the enchanted scissors from the book … and blue sparkles!
The book pick for July was Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim and comes signed with an author letter.
Overall Rating: A
-
Harry Potter Ceramic Mug: 3/3
-
The Night Circus Puzzle: 3/3
-
Gathering of Shadows Playing Cards: 3/3
-
Canvas Coin Purse: 3/3
-
Lanyard: 2/3 (Personally, I just don’t have a lot of use for it. But that isn’t a knock at the item or the quality itself).
Overall, another excellent box by OwlCrate. They have really upped their game with quality, varied goodie selection, and overall value in the box this year. I am really pleased with everything this month and am excited to get to this read!
Note on Rating: I rate each item out of 3 possible points: 1 for quality, 1 for usefulness, and 1 for if I personally liked the item/fandom. I then assign an overall letter rating for the whole box.
