I don’t know about you, but come November I am burned out as a reader. Especially so this year … it hasn’t gone very well.  Whether you’re similarly burned out, or trying to fulfill your reading goals and need a shorter novel, or maybe you’re simply looking for something light-hearted and comforting, A Psalm For the Wild Built, has got you covered.

This tender story revolves around a non-binary tea monk and a robot with self awareness as they discuss life, a person’s worth, their legacy, and how they’ll be remembered. One of my favourite reads of this year, A Psalm For the Wild Built is packed with emotional nuances, tender moments, fantastic insight and most importantly a whole heaping dash of comfort. I think that is what makes this story really special, it is so wholly comforting, and never tries to be bigger than it needs to be to pad a page count. It doesn’t need more.

A little bit science fiction, a little bit fantasy, a little bit fiction, this is simply a beautiful little novella to pull you out of a reading slump.
