Well OwlCrate started 2021 out with a bang, delivering us this wonderful box full of bookish goodies celebrating all things Mythology … and if you know me, you know I’m all for anything and everything mythology!

Starting out with another awesome tea from Riddle’s Tea Shoppe – Nectar of the Gods – a combination of rooibos, peach pieces, apple pieces, natural peach, vanilla, and caramel flavourings, marigold flowers and apricots! It is a fresh, fruity explosion – nice for these dreary winter days!

Continuing with the tradition of sending out a yearly pin flag, OwlCrate has delivered another great banner to fill up with all our wonderful monthly pins … and all those pins we are addicted to collecting! I love this blank, heavy black canvas much more than last year’s The Hobbit map pin flag and the lovely gilded leaf foiling border was designed by my lovely friend Michelle Gray (@themichellegray).

Starting this year, the monthly OwlCrate pins will be designed by author Hafsah Faizal’s design company – Icey Designs (_iceydesigns). January’s Medusa pin, inspired by the monthly book pick, is fantastic!

Hang this stunning 2021 lunar calendar wall tapestry in your home office/desk area and get swept away by Eden Cooke’s gorgeous illustrations featuring Artemis (goddess of the moon) and Athena (goddess of wisdom). This is a really lovely piece and I am always happy to get anything celestial 🙂

I think my favourite item in this month’s box is the wooden bookmark designed by In The Reads. Madeline Miller is one of my favourite authors and the Circe quote featured on one side of this woodmark is one of my favourite quotes (win-win!): There are rare moments when another soul dips near yours, as stars once a year brush the earth. Such a constellation he was to me. (The reverse side features a quote from The Song of Achilles: I would know him in death, at the end of the world).

Lastly, team OwlCrate delivered this super impressive item – a felt letter board, including numerous characters, letters, symbols, and emoticons as well as a felt zipper pouch (featuring the god of messages: Hermes) to keep everything contained! It is really amazing they were able to fit such a large item in a monthly book box and I am very eager to display my favourite book quotes/messages on this board – I’ve had my eye on one for awhile now!

The January book pick is one I have been eagerly anticipating – Lore by Alexandra Bracken. The OwlCrate edition came with an exclusive cover, signed by the author, and with an author letter. I can’t wait to get into this mythological YA story!
