A second book! Straw into Gold: Fairy Tales Re-Spun by Hilary McKay. We just finished Hilary MacKay’s The Time of Green Magic (which was the OwlCrate Jr book pick for July) and I am in love with her stunning literary ability to create atmosphere and tone. Her book was full of life and love and bright, fun characters – I know this collection of reimagined fairytales will be just as fabulous.

Mary Poppins coin purse – probably the coolest item we’ve gotten in our four year collection … I L-O-V-E Mary Poppins my friends. Love her. I have watched the movie waaaaay too many times to count and adore anything and everything Mary Poppins themed … enough said.

Percy Jackson “Riptide” pen. My daughter and I read Percy Jackson for the first time this year and I fell in love with all the adventure and mythology … so having our own Riptide pen is pretty awesome. Plus it’s a floating pen, a good portion of my childhood was lost to watching floating pens 🙂

August’s book pick was A Pinch of Magic by Michelle Harrison which came signed, with an exclusive cover, and a letter from the author!

Such a a wonderful collection of fun, magical goodies this month. *Note that a 100 piece Harry Potter puzzle was also included but in light of J.K Rowling’s recent and continued attacks on the transgender community, this item will not be highlighted. OwlCrate and OwlCrate Jr. will no longer be including Harry Potter merchandise in their boxes, a position I wholeheartedly support.
