The theme for the May OwlCrate box was Rebels With a Cause, highlighting some favourite literary rebels and included many powerful, inspiring quotes. I loved this box! Here’s what was inside:

Juniper and Ivy Designs are often featured in OwlCrate boxes and I’m always impressed by the quality and detail of their engraved, wooden items. This month we received a square, wooden magnet with an awesome quote from The Bone Season: “Never allow yourself to believe you should be silent.” What an amazing quote, landing at such an important time in our history.

Reusable metal straws! A plethora of metallic straws in two varieties: straight or bent were included in this reusable canvas pouch featuring a quote from An Ember in the Ashes. Also included were two bristle cleaning brushes! I love how OwlCrate always pays attention to these extra details.

The Heart of Iron potholders! If you’ve been a long time OwlCrate subscriber you’ll know the story behind these potholders that were supposed to be included in the October 2019 box but due to a manufacturing error had to be postponed. They were worth the wait! These potholders, designed by Little Inklings Design (Megan is an amazing letterer and I love her shop!) are amazing. I love them!

Vinyl stickers designed by Nerdy Ink. These high quality vinyl stickers feature various inspiring and powerful quotes from Margaret Atwood to Neil Shusterman. My favourite quote is Caroline Caldwell’s: “In a society that profits from your self doubt, liking yourself is a rebellious act”. This amazing quote is now on my laptop!

A second book! Witchy is a graphic novel by Ariel Slamet Ries, published by Oni Press, and features an exclusive OwlCrate cover! I’m always on the lookout for great graphic novels and this story about finding, owning, and channeling your own magic sounds perfect!

The enamel pin of the month was designed by Pennyslug Design, featuring the memory holding alman stone from the book of the month, Incendiary. This sounds very intriguing …. and may I say, I love sparkly pins!

The book of the month for May is Incendiary by Zoraida Cordova and came with a very exclusive, completely redesigned cover, signed by the author, and an author letter.

I truly loved every single item in this month’s box and it couldn’t have arrived at a better time. Full of powerful, inspiring quotes and messages, this box really reminds us to find our voice and most importantly USE our voices to stand up. Powerful change is possible when we do.
