I was so excited for this month’s box and book pick! I’m a big fan of author Emily Lloyd-Jones and nothing to me is more delicious than stories that include folklore and creepy forests. Let’s look inside August’s OwlCrate box!
First up is the third ceramic bowl in the 2022 The Lord of the Rings set, this time travelling to the Elvish realm of Rivendell. These bowls are designed by Janine Lecour and are the most perfect size for snacks while reading or, my personal favourite, yogurt & granola bowls. I think this bowl might be my favourite of the collection so far!
Every month that has a Riddle’s Tea Shoppe tea is a good month in my books. Tapping into the cozy, cool fall days the team has whipped up this yummy banana bread flavoured tea blend. I appreciate that Riddle’s teas are always gluten free, nut free, and caffeine free! Looking forward to a cool day with a cuppa!
I recently read and loved Six Crimson Cranes so I was happy to see an item inspired by the fandom … even if it is a cursed book of origami papers! 😀 (I find nothing as infuriating as origami!!!) This origami kit was designed by Kim Ekdahl … maybe I can find some other scrapbooking use for the papers?
Another book I absolutely love, and sets the bar for deliciously creepy forests, is Uprooted. Eden Cooke designed a wall tapestry featuring a quote from the book.
The Pickety Witch and Joan of Art worked together to create this Wolf and the Woodsman inspired enamel zipper pull! Add it to your purse, jacket, or pencil pouch for a little bookish fun!
Continuing on with the amazing monthly literary luggage pins by Hey Atlas Creative, this month’s box takes us aboard The Marigold from Fable! (Another book I highly recommend for any lover of the pirate genre!)
Finally, the book – The Drowned Woods by Emily Lloyd-Jones! This was a highly anticipated novel for me this year, and I’m so happy to say it delivered! This month’s book came with an exclusive cover to match The Bone Houses (an OwlCrate pick from 2019, set in the same world), reversible dust jacket artwork by Gabriella Bujdoso, foil designs on the hardcover by Tes (paperbackbones), and exclusive end papers by @niru.sky! The book also came signed by Emily and with an author letter!
