“A Power Within” was the theme for February’s OwlCrate box and was full of fandoms I am, mostly, completely unfamiliar with! 😀 But let’s look closer at the unique items included this month …
Those gorgeous, royal purple playing cards have definitely stolen my favourite item of the month spot. I mean, look at them! Purple gilded edges, golden foiling, amazing character art … they are really stunning. We received a similar deck of cards last year in the Finale Special Edition box and I adore that deck as well – this deck is from the Throne of Glass fandom and is a labour of love amongst 5 different artists! Michelle Gray designed the card backs and box, Jo Painter, Salome Totladze, Diana Dworak, and Jana Runneck designed the various character face cards. Such a cool item!
This glasses/screen cleaner is a really clever item I have never received in a book box before! The quote and character art are from Wicked Saints, which was an OwlCrate book pick last April. This was another multi-artist item with Nicole Deal doing the character art and Leaf and Lore doing the hand lettering on the reverse (not shown).
This enamel keychain from The Magicians was created by Blooming Library. A really neat design and a great quality keychain, but I unfortunately am not familiar with this fandom – I’ll have to read The Magicians to learn what the Brakebills are!
A pair of thin metal, BFF bookmarks. These bookmarks were designed by Hey Atlas Creative and were inspired by Truthwitch. The idea here is to keep one and give the other to a buddy … a neat twist on the BFF necklace of our childhoods … of course, I never received one of those broken heart halves, but I “enjoyed” watching others exchange them! I kid, I kid …
A Bento Box?? Ok, this is a really clever addition to the box! This bento box features some writing on the lid that spells out OWLCRATE from the Seadrial’s Steel Alphabet from the Mistborn series. A really clever idea, and even though I personally don’t have need for a lunchbox, I think this was a really nice item that will be useful for many. It is very sturdy and is freezer, dishwasher, and microwave safe! A really great quality item that also came with stainless steel chopsticks and spoon.
The enamel pin this month was designed by That’s Lovely Dear.
The book pick for February was All the Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace, which came signed, with an author letter and a gorgeous exclusive OwlCrate cover. This box also came with a large excerpt from the upcoming Chain of Gold novel by Cassandra Clare.
This was a box full of excellent quality and unique items. Unfortunately for me, I wasn’t familiar with most of the fandoms … this happens from time to time and is not a criticism of the box itself, just a bit of a miss for me personally! OwlCrate always puts great effort into their boxes, maximizing quality and value that I have appreciated for years.
