It’s going to be a great day that ends in “y” as I get to gush over another OwlCrate Jr. box and share all the wonderful surprises that came within. This month’s theme, Creature Communities, had my stuffy/animal loving daughter very excited – especially when I told her the book pick of the month. How can you not melt over that cover?? Here’s what was inside:

Build your own wooden birdhouse kit! Welcome beautiful birdsong to your backyard by assembling these pre-cut wooden pieces together, decorate as you will, and hang from a tree! I’m eager to see all the creative ways people are going to decorate these birdhouses! Knowing my daughter, a rainbow or two will likely appear.

Frog and Toad 100-piece puzzle. We could receive a puzzle in every single box, every single month and I would be a happy camper! They are so very relaxing, especially paired with an audiobook, and I’m so happy my daughter enjoys them as well — any time spent away from Minecraft and Zelda is a win! This puzzle was designed by @veepdoodles, one of my favourite illustrators OwlCrate Jr. works with.

@kdpletters designed an amazing pennant flag inspired by the wonderful Wunimal Society found in Nevermoor – the magical middle grade series created by Jessica Townsend. This immediately went up on my daughter’s bookshelf under her collection of Nevermoor stories!

My favourite item in the box has to be this wonderful Charlotte’s Web tote bag designed by @britterson. Charlotte’s Web is, simply, pure magic and the wholesome illustration on this tote just makes me smile every time I look at it.

Learn more about symbiotic relationships found in nature in this mini reader, Odd Animal Helpers, by Gabrielle Reyes, published by Scholastic. Do be warned … bugs do appear!! 🙂

And finally the book pick of the month! September’s pick is the highly anticipated Willodeen by Katherine Applegate. OwlCrate Jr.’s book came with an exclusive cover, signed by Katherine, and with an author letter to the readers bound in the book! This month’s monthly sticker was designed by @sonnyrossillustration.
