Being my most anticipated release of 2020, I was super excited when OwlCrate announced they’d be doing a special edition box for The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab. I knew they would create a box full of high quality, unique bookish goodies but they really blew me away with this box! The product quality, the attention to detail, the rose gold + black colour scheme, it was all so luxurious and definitely one of my favourite boxes they have curated.
Because I’m a major candle lover let’s start out with the amazing The Darkness candle from Alchemy and Ink. This is the most lovely smelling candle and without a doubt my favourite candle I’ve ever received in a book box! It has such a unique earthy, forest fresh fragrance with a hint of spice and warm vanilla. I’m obsessed with the crackling wood candle wick as well.
This incredibly unique journal, featuring cover artwork by Unlucky Designs and interior design by my lovely friend Michelle Gray, is actually a three year memory diary with space to jot down a special daily memory, quote, favourite book, or idea. When the year is over, flip back to the beginning and start again. I think it will be so interesting to relive small memories/moments that might otherwise be forgotten throughout the year! A really thoughtful item.
A wooden ash ring plays an important role throughout Addie’s journey and OwlCrate honoured that with this wooden page holder designed by Juniper and Ivy Designs. Simply slip over your thumb to help keep your pages open while reading – especially helpful when attacking gigantic 500+ page tomes!
Perpetual wooden desk calendar by Daffodils and Ink. The quality of this item is off the charts – this gorgeous rose gold + black calendar is made from very heavy, substantial wood blocks all nestled in a sturdy frame that features the quote from the book: “Life can feel very long sometimes, but in the end, it goes so fast.”
Forensics and Flowers designed a beautiful enamel pin displaying an excellent quote from the book: “A story is an idea, wild as a weed, springing up wherever it is planted.” I love the elegant, simple design and colours of this pin.
The Last Word is a bookshop that plays a central role to the story and Paperbackbones designed this stainless steel travel mug that looks like it was plucked right out of The Last Word’s gift shop … I mean, if it existed. This is another item that blew me away with quality – not a cheap travel mug at all, but a heavy, double encased stainless steel mug that will keep your beverages hot for a long time, without burning your hands when holding it!
Lastly – The book! This exclusive OwlCrate edition features rose gold foiling right on the hardcover, large rose gold foil stamp on the back cover (designed by Paperbackbones), exclusive endpapers, a black ribbon bookmark, and is signed by V.E. Schwab herself!
Another amazing box by this very dedicated team! Their attention to detail and quality is unparalleled in the book box community and I highly recommend giving yourself a treat and subscribing! You can use my code TALES15 that will save you 15% off a new subscription.
